MBE South Brisbane overcomes major disaster setback with installation of Fuji Xerox Color 1000 Press and 4112 printer

MBE South Brisbane, a leading digital print business in the Queensland capital, has proved that hard work, gritty resilience and high technology can reap real rewards in very trying circumstances.
Sydney, Australia - 20 December 2011 — MBE South Brisbane, a leading digital print business in the Queensland capital, has proved that hard work, gritty resilience and high technology can reap real rewards in very trying circumstances.
In January this year, MBE South Brisbane was inundated by over 40cm of water in the floods that devastated the city when the Brisbane River burst its banks. The company’s printing equipment was destroyed, including an almost brand new Fuji Xerox 700 Digital Press, along with most of its records.
However, MBE South Brisbane owner/director, Paul Stenhouse, opted not to give in to this major setback, and instead took the bold step of investing in a Fuji Xerox Color 1000 Press and a Fuji Xerox 4112 black-and-white printer, in the process upgrading the company’s technology arsenal and adding new products and services to its portfolio.
The company specialises in all forms of digital printing for corporate and marketing clients, wide-format printing, design and web services, packaging and mail.
“The floods in January were a terrible blow to the business, but I decided I wasn’t going to just give in,” said Mr Stenhouse. “We also run MBE Fortitude Valley, which survived the floods, and we managed to keep going there until we could get MBE South Brisbane back on its feet. It was another blow to have our insurance company refuse our damage claim, but that made me even more determined to keep going.”
MBE South Brisbane chose to invest in a Fuji Xerox Color 1000 Press because it offered the level of productivity required if Paul’s dreams for the business were to be realised. It would also provide the added benefits of the highest quality digital colour print, the ability to personalise documents, and Fuji Xerox’s unique Clear Dry Ink, which provides spot and flood varnish effects on documents, enabling digital printers to highlight images, headlines or variable text, enhance logos and variable images, apply digital watermarks, and even simulate pearlescent and metallic effects.
Paul’s dreams have indeed been realised. Since the installation of the Fuji Xerox Color 1000 Press in April 2011, it has produced over a million full-colour A4 pages for MBE South Brisbane, many of them highly personalised for clients’ specialised marketing and promotion campaigns.
Just as remarkably, MBE’s Fuji Xerox 4112 printer has printed over 1.3 million A4 pages, providing the productivity and reliability that were key considerations in Mr Stenhouse’s deliberations.
“When we had to replace the 700 Digital Press, I decided to step up to the Color 1000 Press in the hope that we would be able to utilise its efficiency and unique print capabilities, along with the 4112’s high volume production ability. We’ve done that. Both machines have given us the production levels and print quality that have enabled us to grow the business beyond our expectations in such a short time,” said Mr Stenhouse.
“I already had a good relationship with Fuji Xerox Australia before the floods, but after we were so badly affected the Fuji Xerox guys came to our premises and pitched in, helping us to clean up after the flood. We really appreciated their help. It shows the kind of people they are, and their idea of what a business relationship can be.”
Nathan Gardner, account executive at Fuji Xerox Australia, said, “When MBE South Brisbane was hit by the floods, we suggested to Paul Stenhouse that they could either replace their damaged equipment with the same, or take a step up in technology with the Color 1000 Press and gain all the production advantages that it offers, such as the Clear Dry Ink and extra productivity. Paul and his team have shown that hard work and real guts can reap big rewards for those who have a go. We’re very pleased to have been able to help MBE South Brisbane get back on top again after the floods.”
